The Aveda Institute Vancouver is located in the heart of Vanouver's historic Gastown and just steps away from the Canada Line, Sky Train and Sea Bus. Housed in a three-story Edwardian masonry building, originally built in 1905, the Institute occupies the entire 7,454 sq foot main floor and is equipped with extensive clinic areas, a full-service salon and an Aveda Experience Centre. The newly renovated facility incorporates environmentally sensitive design features to minimize material waste and use of virgin materials.

Hairstyling Program

Our hairstyling program incorporates 1200 hours of extensive hands-on learning to provide you with a complete understanding of beauty and wellness in three phases - Alpha, Beta and Gamma Units.

Introduction/Alpha Unit

Begin by learning the fundamentals of cutting ,styling and chemical restructuring of hair as well as skin and nail care, makeup and the related sciences. Lectures, demontrations and workshops concentrate on developing skill and accuracy, reinforcing classroom knowledge. You will be introduced to retail merchandising, client servicing and personal development skills. These units also cover provincial safety requirements.

Beta Unit

Unlock your creativity as you explore the latest trends and techniques in hair cutting, styling, colouring, permanent waving and chemcial re-structuring. Time in the clinic allows you to become increasingly confident on developing skill and accuracy, reinforcing classroom knowledge. You will be introduced to retail merchandising, client servicing and personal development skills. These units also cover provincial safety requirements.

Gamma Unit

Get ready to launch your career with in-depth training in client service, time management, self-promotion, goal-setting, merchandising and entrepreneurship. Your speed, accuracy and concetnration are now ready for the salon. You can demontrate competency in all tasks required for the Certificate of Qualifications examination. It's time to realize your dreams as a salon professional.
